ARRESTS OF FARM INPUT SUBSIDY PROGRAMME CORRUPT PRACTICES
On 17th December 2010, the ACB arrested Police Officer FELIX MLOIWA of Mpemba Police Unit for alleged corrupt practices.
The alleged complaint against him is that he demanded MK8,000.00 from Mr. AUBREY MWAMADI and his relatives in order to grant bail to ROBERT JOHN, Mr. NJOLOMA and Mrs. LISTER ROSE NJOLOMA who had been arrested following a wrangle over the ownership of a bag of subsidized fertilizer contrary to Section 24 (1) of the Corrupt Practices Act.
FELIX MLOIWA was taken to Blantyre Magistrate Court on Tuesday 21st December 2010. He has since been granted bail on condition that he reports to Anti-Corruption Bureau fortnightly, pays K10,000.00 bail bond in cash, provides two sureties of K50,000 not cash each and not to go outside Blantyre without notifying the Anti-Corruption Bureau Director.
FELIX MLOIWA will be taken to court after the festive season.
ARRESTS ON FARM INPUT SUBSIDY PROGRAMME CORRUPT PRACTICES
On 23rd December 2010, the ACB arrested 26 year old MILIKA NYALUGWE of Samama village, T/A Kuntaja, Blantyre; GRACE KALIYATI aged 27, from Samama village, T/A Kuntaja, Blantyre and LOVENESS KAZEMBE aged 28 from Chilangoma village, T/A Kuntaja, Blantyre on corruption allegations.
The alleged complaint against them is that they were found with SEVEN subsidized fertilizer coupons and 3 bags of urea, which they had obtained through corrupt means, contrary to Section 26 of the Corrupt Practices Act.
The three will be taken to court as soon as practicable.
